Fire Service Exploring is a worksite-based program for young men and women who have completed the eighth grade and are 14 years of age or 15 years of age but have not yet reached their 21st birthday.
Fire Service Explorer posts help youth gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of fire service. Exploring offers experiential learning with many
fun-filled, hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth.

1) To teach the youths of the Lake View Fire District the basic fundametals of firefighting, first aid, and rescue operations
2) To instill in the youth the desire to help others without hope of fee or rewards.
3) To teach the youth the meaning of self sacrifice and the love of fellow men.
4) To prepare it's members for induction into the Lakeview Volunteer Fire Association, if so desired, after becoming 18 years of age.
The members experience and see first hand the operations of a fire department. After successfully completing their Explorer Firefighter Apprentice Training and being approved by the Chief, they are allowed to respond on emergency fire and rescue calls. The training they receive is identical to that of a firefighter and even taught by many of the same state instructors. After additional training as a First Responder they are also allowed to respond to some first aid calls to assist with patient care.
1) You must be a resident of the Lake View Fire District.
2) Must be a minimum of 14 years of age and a maximum of 21 years of age.
3) Must be physically fit and mentally sound.
Explorers also become eligible for numerous grants and scholarships through the Fire Association, Boy Scouts of America and other fire and EMS organizations for schooling. The experience they receive is like no other when it comes to the hands on training.
